Off Road Utility Vehicle / Golf Cart Permit

On May 2nd, 2022, the Keokuk Police Department will begin inspections for UTV and golf cart permits.

Individuals wanting to permit a UTV or golf cart for operation on city streets must pick up an application at the Keokuk Police Department, located at 1222 Johnson Street. Once the application is complete, inspection of the UTV or golf cart will be done at the Keokuk Police Department, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am and 2:30pm.

Please make arrangements to trailer your UTV or golf cart to the Keokuk Police Department for inspection. Until a valid permit is attached to the UTV or golf cart, operation on city streets, alleys, or city owned property is prohibited, and any violations will be enforced.

Once the UTV or golf cart has passed inspection the permit will be issued.

Keokuk Police Department Testing

The Civil Service Commission of the City of Keokuk, Iowa is conducting tests for Police Department applicants on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 9:00 A.M. Interested applicants must submit a completed City of Keokuk application form before NOON on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

Requirements:

  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
  • Be a U.S. Citizen and reside within 10 miles of the city limits of the City of Keokuk upon employment
  • Hold a valid Iowa driver’s license at time of employment
  • Not be addicted to drugs or alcohol [modified for Chapter 400 civil service positions by §400.17 of the Code of Iowa]
  • Be of good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation including a fingerprint search conducted of local, state and national fingerprint files and have not been convicted of a felony or a crime involving moral turpitude

The City of Keokuk Urban Deer Hunt

The City of Keokuk Urban Deer Hunt Season is: September 17th, 2022 through January 10th, 2023.

The following dates for hunters to qualify are:

August 11 at 6pm

August 21 at 3pm

August 27 at 9am

September 3 at 9am

Location at the old City Landfill at the end of South 20th Street in Keokuk.
